A kunnāsh (كنّاش) is a term from Islamic and Arabic scholarly traditions, referring to a notebook or compilation of varied, often practical, information. These notebooks contained observations, records, formulas, calculations, and personal reflections. Scholars used them to document knowledge across scholarly disciplines. Typically loosely organised, a kunnāsh was a multi-purpose collection drawing from various disciplines, akin to a “miscellany” or an academic journal with personal notes.
In this spirit, this section serves as a collective research journal, organised by themes relevant to the project.
